Young Playmakers
ages 3-4, 5-7
Act, sing, dance, drum, paint, and play! From monsters to aliens, wizards to wild things, and other wacky characters, we'll stomp, sing, dance, read our way through books, stories and tales!
Creative Drama provides a strong foundation of the performing arts as we develop creativity and imagination, social skills, academic skills, and our self-awareness and self-expression.
These sessions develop rhythm, coordination, self-confidence, self-expression, and social-emotional skills all in a fun, developmentally appropriate class as we make new friends and build teamwork.

Young Actors Studio
ages 8-10, 11-14
Intro to Acting, Movement, Mime, and Puppetry. Come join us in the studio as we develop our performance, team-building, self-awareness, and self-expression skills. No experience necessary.
Tuesdays 4:30-5:15pm (ages 8-10)
Saturdays noon-1pm (ages 11-14)

Actors Studio
for High School Students
Engage in acting and movement techniques as we work on stage presence, characterization, movement for the actor, improv, vocal training, and performance skills. Grades 9-12. All levels. We will work with each student to tailor a program suited to their skills and training. Class size is limited to 5 students to provide individualized attention.

Scene Study
ages 15-99+
Scene Study builds strong foundations for rehearsals and performance as we examine acting techniques, script analysis, movement, and improvisation exercises as we develop our dexterity to approach different characters and modalities.
Using the works of different writers, from comedy to drama, classics to modern, tv and film, this class focuses on character development, timing, physicality, playable action, energy, and tension.

Zena Rommett Floor-Barre® Classes
with Ann Van Kuren, VanDance Inc.
Excellent for dancers, as well as non-dancers, athletes, and non-athletes. Begin your workout or end your day by centering, elongating, and strengthening your body without the pressure of gravity! Zena Rommett Floor-Barre® strengthens the muscles and improves the alignment of the body. Dancers and non-dancers can benefit from the rewards of a Floor-Barre® class. A complete mind-body experience, Floor-Barre® allows you to turn your focus inward and work your muscles deeply and intelligently. It gives you a solid foundation in body awareness that you can take with you in all your daily activities. It is also an excellent way to maintain strength for people recovering from injury and can also aid in injury prevention.

The Central PA Theatre & Dance Fest
Beginning in Sept 2022, Tempest Productions , VanDance Inc, and the Central PA Theatre & Dance Fest moved into their new home theatre arts studio at 140 Kelly Alley, State College. Formerly the home to Movement Arts Studio, this space offers an eclectic theatre arts setting for our variety of programs as well as a traditional dance studio space.
Tempest Productions began in 1996 in NYC and Hoboken, NJ and extended to PA in 2002. In 2018, Tempest created and produced the Central PA Theatre & Dance Fest, now in its 6th year. During the past 5 seasons, Tempest has worked with over 50,000 students in its programming.
VanDance Inc., State College’s own professional dance company for 21 seasons, is dedicated to creating and presenting unique, high-quality contemporary dance works through professional artist collaborations. VanDance delivers dance as an alive and vital art form through integrity in the creative process, education of audiences, and outreach to underserved populations.
