| Flo Rutherford After graduating from Wake Forest University and the University of Connecticut, Flo began her professional career as the resident designer for the community theatre of LaCrosse, Wisconsin. It's not every community theatre that would undertake a production of "The Devils of Loudon" along with the Neil Simon and "South Pacific", but after a year she moved on to manage the costume shop at Indiana Repertory Theatre, where she met her future husband, Jody Boese. Several summers were spent at the delightful Theatre at Monmouth, the Shakespearen Theatre of Maine. After moving to New York, Flo freelanced for a while, but ended up spending most of her time working for fashion designer Joan Vass. She spent two years as costume manager for the Eastern Costume branch of Norcostco, in New Jersey, then, took a break while daughter Kira was a baby. In 1986, she began working at what was then Jersey City State College, now New Jersey City University. There she has been a one-woman costume shop, creating the designs and doing the construction for plays, musicals, operas, and dance concerts, working in a wide variety of periods and styles. In between, she has found time for the occasional independent project, including the local high school's musical productions (but not "High School Musical"), Hofstra Opera, and Tempest Productions.
